Sweetgrass Incense Braid
A species of grass native to the United States & Canada, is braided and then burned for its sweet smelling smoke. Our medium, 25-28" long, sweetgrass is braided by Native American elder grandmothers from sweetgrass sustainably grown in the Northwest USA and Canada.
Many native tribes in North America use sweetgrass in praying, smudging or purifying ceremonies and consider it a sacred plant. It is usually braided, dried, and burned. Sweetgrass braids smolder and don't produce an open flame when burned. Just as the sweet scent of this natural grass is attractive and pleasing to people, so is it attractive to good spirits. Our Story
Shaman's Market is a labor of love and service. We began our spiritual journey in 1994, learning from wisdom keepers of many earth honoring wisdom traditions, mostly in the Americas. We have traveled extensively in Peru and made many meaningful heart connections with the people of this amazing country.
In 1999, after running out of many of the products we use in our Shamanic practice (and not having a trip to Peru in sight) we decided to import products for our friends and community. We are as excited today as we were then to support the growing shamanic community in the US and globally. Additionally, providing a fair trade outlet for the exquisite artisans and the indigenous people of the Andes, Amazon, Tibet and other countries around the world!
Over the years our offerings have grown. We are pleased to now offer lifestyle products to promote living in harmony with each other and our Earth.
