$22, $33, $44 sliding scale

POSTPONED FROM SATURDAY SEP 23 DUE TO WEATHER. RAIN DATE IS SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 30.

Registration is open until 15 min prior to class. Drop-ins ok if the class is not full.

This yoga workshop was created out of a passion to support individuals with health experiences such as POTS, brain fog, Lyme disease, gastrointestinal conditions, arthritis, fibromyalgia, cancer, chronic pain, fatigue, autoimmune disease, and more. The class blends principles of yin, meridian and gentle yoga with breath practice and includes yoga poses to balance and support the specific systems involved in these types of health experiences. People with POTS for instance can experience dizziness with positional changes and most yoga classes don't take this into consideration. Downward dog? No thanks! Buffalo Firefly's owner and founder Mary-Lynne is in recovery from POTS, Lyme & other related autoimmune and systemic health experiences. She's thriving now and wants to support others who are going through the ever-fluctuating daily existence living with these bodies of ours.

This workshop includes education about the different body systems impacted by these health challenges, principles behind the yoga poses, and instruction in mindful movement through the poses. You'll receive guidance from a physical therapist and a yoga instructor. Unlike a typical yoga class, attendees receive a handout about how to implement the poses for their own supportive practice. You'll also be surrounded by a community of people who are experiencing similar exercise limitations. We hope to schedule this regularly and will discuss timing with those in attendance.

Classes are offered both in-person in Richmond VA and virtually on Zoom. We have space for a limited number of people in person and plenty of spots online! If you would like to be in person and we appear sold out, please contact us.

YOUR FACILITATORS

About Meghan (she/her)

Meghan is a physical therapist, Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and chronic illness warrior. She came back to yoga after navigating challenges with POTS and EDS through discovering the power of the breath to shift the nervous system.

She helps those with POTS & chronic fatigue overcome the frustration of not knowing how to exercise without crashing to confidently being able to identify their triggers and enjoy movement again.Through self-awareness, breathwork, and the mind-body connection, she empowers her clients to figure out how to regain their energy and actively get their lives back.

Her passion to give others with health challenges hope to comfortably return to yoga practice led to joining together with Buffalo Firefly for this workshop.

About Sara (she/her)

Sara first got into yoga after needing a real mental shift in thinking. She started off with online classes and loved how the movement and breathwork got her out of her head and into her body. She kept a strong home practice for several years before finally receiving her 200 hour vinyasa training at The Yoga Dojo. Yoga has single handedly changed her perspective on life. She enjoys teaching from a place of compassion, where everyone in her class can be at ease with how they feel in that moment. After completing level 1 + 2 of Meridian Yoga Therapy, Sara began to add this healing practice to all the flows she teaches, whether through acupressure points, the slapping technique, or specific stretches of the meridian energy lines. Sara is excited to continue to learn and grow as a teacher and a forever student.

About Margarita (she/her)

Margarita believes that yoga is more than just a physical practice. It's a journey of self-discovery that teaches us to cultivate inner peace, harmony, and balance. She originally trained in India almost a decade ago. Since then, she has taught a wide array of classes covering many styles of yoga: anything from slow flow to fiery vinyasa. Through her teachings, she aims to help students connect with their inner selves, tap into their true potential, and cultivate their inner sanctuary.
Margarita is particularly passionate about the practice of Yin Yoga, which she believes is a powerful tool for bringing harmony and balance to our fast paced, Yang dominant society. In her classes, she creates a nurturing and supportive environment where students can explore the depths of their being and release emotional and energetic blockages.
