Reiki & Sound Healing Sessions
Schedule a private Reiki & Sound Healing session with one of our practitioners — all trained by and apprenticed with Mary-Lynne, Reiki Master Teacher and founder of Buffalo Firefly. These sessions offer a profound journey into relaxation and inner balance, giving your nervous system a much-needed rest. All our practitioners use both Reiki and sound healing techniques in their 1:1s.
Private 1:1 sessions are available in person in Richmond and over Zoom, with one-on-one offerings expanding to our Brooklyn studio as our team grows there. Several of our practitioners offer private Reiki and sound healing, and each session is tailored to you and where you are that day. For group sessions, see our Classes & Events, or contact us about private groups and workplace wellness.
Our Reiki + Sound practitioners
What is sound healing?
Sound healing is an ancient therapeutic practice that uses sound vibrations to restore harmony to the mind, body, and spirit. Rooted in traditions from cultures across the globe, it has been embraced for centuries to reduce stress, promote relaxation, and support overall well-being — an invitation to restore balance to your life-force energy through the power of sound.
At its core, sound healing works on the idea that everything vibrates, including our bodies, thoughts, and emotions. When exposed to specific frequencies, the body can resonate and align with these vibrations, helping to release energetic blockages, reduce stress and anxiety, boost mental clarity, and support physical and emotional healing. Our sessions use tools like Crystal Tones® Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls®, Himalayan metal singing bowls, chimes, tuning forks, and drums.
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced “RAY-kee”) is a Japanese energy-healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It’s based on the idea that everything is energy and our bodies are wise enough to heal when they have access to life-force energy: when that energy is low we’re more likely to feel stressed or unwell; when it’s high we’re better equipped to feel happy and healthy.
Reiki was developed in the early 20th century by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan and brought to the West by one of his early students, Hawayo Takata — though energy healing has existed in indigenous cultures for centuries. It’s a non-invasive, hands-on method where practitioners use gentle touch, or place their hands slightly above the body, to transfer energy — removing blockages, stimulating the body’s natural healing abilities, and restoring balance. Many describe it as deeply relaxing, with sensations of warmth, tingling, or soothing calm.
- Stress reduction & relaxation — a deep, restorative calm that promotes mental clarity.
- Emotional healing — helps release negative emotions and invite peace and positivity.
- Pain management — often used to complement traditional medical treatment.
- Boosted energy — by balancing energy flow, Reiki is believed to enhance vitality.
Reiki is accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds, and is complementary to other healing modalities and conventional medical care.
