This limited edition sacred oil has been created from the finest Ecuadorian Palo Santo (Holy Wood) tree twigs, “the ones closest to heaven and furthest from the land.” It was created in sacred space and time with healing intention and lots of love. The fragrance brings to mind the scent of citrus with a few notes of wood and is similar to frankincense, its close relative.

Botanical Name: Bursera graveolens

Description: Our rare 100% pure Palo Santo Essential oil, Bursera graveolens, is distilled in small quantities from ecologically and sustainably harvested wood gathered in Machalilla Park on Ecuador's Pacific coast.

Of Interest:  The tree of Palo Santo is originally from the dry tropical forests on the coast of the South Pacific, Ecuador being the main country where this tree is found. The Palo Santo Oil is only concentrated and deposited in the interior of the tree trunk. It can takes up to 10 years to produce the oil and to get concentrated in their trunk.  Only tree branches that fall naturally from the ground are used to make this oil. The average life of the tree of Palo Santo is between 80 and 90 years.

History: The natives in Ecuador have used it mainly to protect themselves from insects (mosquito) and also in ancestral rituals where shamans use this oil to clear bad energy from the bodies. They also used it as essential oil and to perfume their homes.

Properties: In aromatherapy, Palo Santo Essential Oil is considered to be antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. It is said to have excellent absorption properties and can be used in massage therapy to relieve pain and inflammation of the muscles and joints, and regenerates skin conditions, promote skin nutrition, healing and flexibility. How to use: Put a few drops of Shamans Market Palo Santo Essential Oil diluted 3 to 1 on exposed skin or dilute a few drops into distilled water and place in an atomizer bottle.

• Dilute by the drop: Essential oils are very strong and must be diluted (usually in a carrier oil) or incorporated into something like a massage oil, lotion, or aroma spray. The essential content should only account for 0.5-2% of the total blend.

• Care Tips For Your Essential Oils: Store with cap closed tightly in a cool dark space and away from light. Keep away from direct heat or open flame. If stored correctly, essential oils will last 1-4 years.

• Safety Tips For Your Essential Oils: Always use essential oils with caution. Inhalation or prolonged exposure may cause dizziness, nausea, and headaches.
